I’m George Daniel Garry (b. 2003), a UK-based artist working in stop-motion animation, mixed media, and puppetry. I create handcrafted, narrative-driven work that blends dark, horror-inspired themes with playful and vibrant visuals.
My animations are built using found objects and a mix of materials, often exploring the line between the eerie and the enchanting. I take inspiration from the surreal and tactile films of Jan Švankmajer, whose influence can be seen in the way I approach storytelling through texture, movement, and character.
I studied Animation and Illustration at Arts University Bournemouth, where I developed a distinctive style that combines the macabre with a sense of wonder. My projects often explore psychological and existential ideas, while keeping a strong focus on craft and mood.
My work has been recognised by festivals such as the Young Presence 9:16 Film Competition, New Designers: Screening Room Prize, and the Bristol 'Puppet Place' 48-Hour Challenge, where I received an Honourable Mention.
I use puppetry, sculpture, and stop-motion to build immersive worlds, always aiming to create work that feels strange, thought-provoking, and deeply evocative.
